A Picture I am Proud of

One of my first posts dedicated to my first trip outside of the United States. This is a small corner of an under-construction Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in the Piazza del Duomo located in Florence, Italy in 2011. This has always been a favorite photo of mine.

I'll never forget the walk to the square. With every step I took my eyes darted in a different direction trying desperately to digest every detail of the thin cobblestone alleyways. There were balconies drenched in vines and flowers with the occasional sight of drying laundry. The flora painted colors which dreams are filled of. The streets were narrow and dimly lit, almost maze-like. Suddenly, I turned a corner into the open, bright and bustling piazza. I was childlike in that moment. Completely and utterly overwhelmed by the site of this monstrous cathedral, my eyes filled with tears. That's when I grabbed my camera.
